Google Dell battery recall.. You might get one for free.. Check that first.. If it dont qualify for a new free battery you will need to buy one. Its very common.
All the best,
-Pete
I would use solder wick and clean all the connections. After you know you have it very clean use some flux and then tin everything nice.
Im sure its a connection issue.
Let me know how it works.

Hi Pete,
I tried to replace my DC Jack on a Dell Inspirion 8600, and when I pieced the laptop together, I hear a beep at boot up. Something about the AC adapter and it’s not going to be able to function right. Any idea what’s went wrong? The part when you mentioned the center piece to be solder, I didn’t see any terminal to be solder. Any ideas? Thanks.
Ekk that could be a board issue.. I would open it up and see if you can put a volt meter on it.. If you see your 16-19 volts and after the click it hits 0 you know its a board issue..
Let me know how that goes,
-Pete
Thanks soo much.. I will have more to come.
All the best,
-Pete
nice! Glad you enjoyed it.. Let me know how that goes.
-Pete
Very common on that model.. next one I get in the shop; I will do the video.
All the best,
-Pete
Sure sounds like a DC Jack.. Center pin on that model.
-Pete
It could be a DC Jack too.. What type of laptop?
All the best,
-Pete

Great stuff man, keep up the quality work. Maybe we independent contractors can put geek squad out of business!!

Homedepot has some Husky drivers that hold up pretty well. I have a couple that I favor that I picked up from an electronic surplus store.. Its mil-spec stuff.. You need something that has a great tip on it. You will also need one thats small and a little blunt.
Hope that helps.
