Excellent Video! The steps were easy to follow. However, the dreaded happened, a part fell out and I don’t know where it came from. It either fell from the motherboard or the casing the motherboard was in. In addition, the last ribbon disconnected from the motherboard that freed it from the casing, I don’t see where the other end of that ribbon connects in the casing. Any assistance will be most appreciative. I made a video (newbie121861) of the part that fell out.
Thanks, Newbie121861
good video, I have to replace the touchpad panel and was wondering how to take it apart, easier to see sometimes than read and wonder how it comes apart and clean the fan in another one

The best step by step video to disassemble my Dell Vostro 1400
This video helped me a lot
thanks for all the comments.
Not a bad video but please don’t tell people to use screw drivers to separate plastics. Buy a plastic “spudger” (aka Apple black stick) from a supplier or on eBay or use one of those wooden cuticle sticks they sell in the health and beauty aids section that look like dowel rod with a tapered end. Screwdrivers leave marks and raise the plastic.
thanks so much

At 7:01, I snapped my keyboard connector latch in half (you call it the “blue tab” in your video). Now my keyboard no longer works properly. What should I do?

good luck
@qatifian I have the same problem and also came upon this video as I was seeking out a solution. If you’ve fixed this problem, let me know how you did it. I’d very much like to use my internal speakers for once.
Do I have to do do all of this in order to clean my fan?
Hi it sounds like a hardware issue as I have installed 7 on many of these and the drivers for the sound are included in the installation and windows update.
